Reconfigure to your heart’s content with our most versatile, expandable sidecar yet. The Penthouse Companion evokes the charm of a vintage console, crafted in beautiful Walnut (or Maple). Designed for both mixing and mastering, it offers:

THE PENTHOUSE:
 
Available in 2u or 3u (3u supports 500 series racks)
Positioned above the main cabinet for maximum downlit visibility
Optional recessed light bar: 2700k warm LED with diffusion, dimmable, powered via USB-A plug (adapter not included)
 
The illuminated Penthouse “expansion pack” completes the Companion’s robust utility, while evoking the classic analog console vibe.

The Companion is an expanded version of our low-profile Attendant sidecar:
 
Upper section: 12u rack space
Lower section: additional 4u rails
Desktop option: Converts into a workstation by swapping 4 bolts (no disassembly required)
 
The Penthouse and desktop are secured with contoured wood-on-wood joints and heavy-duty bolts for lasting stability.
 
Lockable heavy-duty casters (rated to 700 lbs) make the Companion easy to move. With a power conditioner installed, it can be fully loaded with up to 16u of gear while remaining connected by a single power cable.
 
Interior Shelving (Optional)
Three adjustable shelf positions provide maximum flexibility without removing rack rails:
 
Position A: Forward placement for easy access to gear, with 4u of rail space above (great for shallow-depth units like Eurorack).
Position B: Aligns with the desktop for pedals, laptops, or 500 series units. Keeps the top 1u open for power conditioners.
Position C: Lowest placement for storage or cable coiling (can be hidden with rack blanks).
 
Shelves are interchangeable with our Comrade line and lock securely with 6 heavy-duty pins.
 
Assembly & build quality
 
Assembly is straightforward with a single bolt/pin system and engineered joinery for excellent strength and weight distribution.
 
Crafted from solid Walnut (or Maple for a lighter toned finish), the Companion is built with real-world studio use in mind. Routed f-holes in the cabinet sides add aesthetic character while allowing cross ventilation.
 
Notes
All products are handmade to order. Build + finishing takes approximately 3-4 weeks before shipping.
